In Brooklyn during the year 1996, young Molly Wright, portrayed by Tessa Thompson, finds herself amidst a chaotic encounter as she witnesses her parents being neuralyzed by agents from the Men in Black organization. While aiding an alien escape, she cleverly evades neuralization herself, as her parents mistakenly believe she is merely asleep. Fast forward twenty-three years later, we find Molly struggling with rejection from various government agencies, which deem her beliefs in extraterrestrial life as mere “delusions.” Despite the setbacks, her passion leads her to track down an alien landing, ultimately tracing the MiB agents back to their headquarters in New York.
Upon her arrival, Molly is detained, but she quickly makes a strong impression on Agent O, convincing her of her abilities to uncover the organization’s secrets. In recognition of her determination, she is granted probationary agent status as Agent M and assigned to the London branch of MiB. Upon her arrival, M encounters High T (Liam Neeson), the leader of the London division, and she secures a position to assist Agent H (Chris Hemsworth) during his rendezvous with Vungus the Ugly (Kayvan Novak), an alien royal family member and close ally of H.
Their evening takes a dark turn as mysterious alien twins attack, resulting in Vungus suffering fatal injuries. Just before his death, he entrusts a peculiar crystal to M, warning her against revealing its existence to H, whom he claims has changed. In the aftermath, Agent C (Rafe Spall) expresses frustration with H’s handling of the situation. M, however, highlights that only a few people knew about Vungus’ location, suggesting a traitor lurks among the MiB agents. Fearing internal betrayal, High T assigns M and C to investigate, while H is reassigned to desk duty.
As they delve deeper, they discover alarming DNA traces belonging to the Hive, a parasitic race notorious for commandeering other planets through genetic fusion. M later learns about H and High T’s previous confrontation with the Hive during a 2016 incident at the Eiffel Tower, which has shaped H’s current demeanor into one of apathy and arrogance, often covered up by High T’s leniency due to their past bond.
H persuades M to pursue a lead in Marrakesh, where they rescue Pawny (Kumail Nanjiani), the last survivor from an attack by the twins. Despite pledging allegiance to M, they soon become ensnared by C’s MiB agents, who have video evidence implicating M as the traitor. Utilizing a rocket-powered bike provided by H’s alien friend, the trio makes a narrow escape. They discover that the crystal is a powerful weapon fueled by a condensed blue giant.
Upon trying to reclaim the weapon from Riza Stavros (Rebecca Ferguson), H’s former lover who has turned into an arms dealer, the group faces unexpected challenges. However, a twist of fate allows them to leave Riza’s stronghold, thanks to the intervention of the bodyguard – who turns out to be the same alien that M saved in her childhood. Despite their victory, the twins attack once more, but High T and other agents come to their aid, dispatching the threat.
As M and H piece together clues regarding the twins’ intentions, they stumble upon a startling revelation that dispels doubts about M’s involvement, indicating that High T may have ulterior motives related to the Hive. With the weight of evidence leaning against him, both M and H decide to confront High T at the Eiffel Tower, leading to dramatic unfolding events. H’s impaired memories surface, confirming that he has been neuralyzed and manipulated into a false narrative surrounding the Hive, with High T himself being converted into a Hive entity.
With a race against time, H unearths High T’s original personality just long enough for M to wield the weapon and obliterate the High T/Hive hybrid along with the impending infestation threatening Earth. Following these harrowing events, the truth about High T’s betrayal is unveiled, and Agent O welcomes M into her new full agent role in Paris, while appointing H as the acting head of MiB’s London branch. This thrilling adventure not only solidifies M’s place within the organization but also sets the stage for new, uncharted horizons in the fight against extra-terrestrial threats.
