During World War II, Munich postman Ludwig Fuchs writes to his former schoolmate, Field Marshal Hermann Göring, urging him to work for peace. He is declared mentally incompetent. After the war, as Göring is executed, Fuchs battles the stigma of his illness. He forces a review, vandalizes the lobby of Post Office 122 and is rehabilitated with back‑pay.
