A decadent count in 1920s Japan becomes obsessed with Marquis de Sade’s work. He opens a theatre presenting adaptations, hiring thieves, prostitutes and other outcasts to act out his fantasies for his jaded aristocratic friends. Ordering an actor, under threat of death, to make love to his wife while he watches blurs play and reality, leading to disastrous consequences for the count and his decadent circle.
