Loosely adapted from Shakespeare’s play, Plutarch’s Life of Antony and Pietro Cossa’s poem Cleopatra, the film was filmed in Italy and Egypt, showing the Roman army loading in Alexandria. It follows Marc Antony, Cleopatra and Octavia—Octavian’s sister—who arrives in Alexandria to plead with him, leading to tense confrontations.
