Through lyrical images, the film follows Manganinnie on a trek across rugged mountains to the coast with Joanna, a white girl, in search of her vanished tribe. As the journey progresses, the Aboriginal woman slowly realizes that her people and their traditional way of life have been erased. Set against the 1830 Black Drive, the story portrays the near‑genocide of Tasmania’s Aboriginals.
