Kelly Hankins (Sean O'Donnell) seems to have it all: he’s a popular high school student, the star pitcher on the baseball team, and he enjoys a seemingly happy relationship with Lisa Weld (Alexandria Deberry), a romance they keep private from her strict father, Reverend Weld (Stephen Tobolowsky). But when Lisa reveals she is pregnant, Kelly faces a crisis that could upend everything he’s worked for. Desperate for a solution, he learns that his Uncle Theus has reportedly managed to transfer an embryo into a male monkey’s abdomen, and he convinces his uncle to try the same procedure on him. The plan is reckless and morally complicated, yet for Kelly it feels like a possible way out of an impossible situation.
