Set in Belgium in 1995, the sudden disappearance of two young girls leads to the creation of a secret police unit, Maldoror. Officer Paul Chartier is tasked with monitoring a dangerous suspect, but he quickly runs into entrenched bureaucracy and systemic dysfunction. When the official effort collapses, the investigation stalls and Chartier must confront the case alone.
