After a near‑fatal childhood accident, Shiki Tohno is sent to live with relatives. Years later his father dies and his sister Akiha summons him back to the Tohno estate. Shiki secretly sees deadly “death lines” on objects, visible only without his special glasses, and his memories of life before the accident are fragmented. On returning he encounters the mysterious vampire Arcueid Brunestud, whom he unintentionally decapitates but who revives and asks him to be her protector, launching his quest to uncover the truth about his past and his lineage.
