In the final confrontation Alistair insists that Tommy end his own life, believing a suicide will condemn him forever. Tommy complies, shooting himself—but the bullet hits only a protective vest. Alistair then tries to turn the gun on himself, yet he has run out of ammunition. In a desperate scramble, Tommy hands his remaining rounds to Julian, who uses the eye‑gouge technique Tommy taught him to blind Alistair and make a break for safety. Tommy, now out of bullets, provokes Alistair into a reckless charge; the hitman’s own momentum sends him crashing into Julian’s car, crushing him. The violent, over‑the‑top ending leaves Alistair dead—or at least irreparably defeated—while Tommy and Julian escape the desert alive.
