Kayakers on the Ardèche near Vallon‑Pont‑d’Arc discover the murdered museum president of a newly found Paleolithic cave, a 40,000‑year‑old carved stone lodged in his neck. Captain Manon Ferret‑Duval of the research unit teams with Riad Lekcir to investigate. Their partnership is strained by a shared past: Manon blames Riad’s older brother for her parents’ 1994 murder, while Riad insists the late Kamel was innocent.
