Lake Michigan Monster

Seafield, an eccentric alcoholic sea captain who has lost his father to a lake monster, assembles a team of specialists: weapons expert Sean Shaughnessy, sonar operator Nedge Pepsi, and former US Navy officer Dick Flynn. They arrive at Lighthouse Island in Lake Michigan with the intent to kill the creature. The mission starts with a sense of grave purpose and wary partnership among the crew.

Their initial two assaults fail to wound the monster. During the second attempt, the creature attacks Dick, but he survives the encounter, keeping the team in the fight.

Seafield brings in his brother Ashcroft to brainstorm a revised strategy after the failed early attempts. The team discusses what the monster may be and how to outsmart it, leaning on their different skills. The atmosphere tightens as hope returns.

One night the monster leaves a note saying it will see them in their dreams. In a dream, Seafield witnesses Dick being assaulted by the monster, and the creature appears with an egg she calls a peace offering. The dream blurs the lines between horror and myth.

In the morning, Seafield finds the egg and instructs Sean to shoot it. The act marks a grim escalation in their attempt to force the monster to retreat. The team grows more unsettled but remains focused on their mission.

During their third attempt, Dick tosses the egg's fragments into the lake as bait after hearing voices. The monster spots the remains and kills Sean in a furious rage. The loss devastates the team and intensifies the mission's stakes.

At Sean's funeral, Dick learns the monster's offspring would have been his unborn son and announces he is leaving the team. The loss and revelation fracture the group further. Seafield and Nedge watch as the mission teeters on collapse.

Back at base, Seafield confesses he misled them about being a captain and rich, damaging trust. Nedge, angered by the deception, walks away from Seafield and the mission. The team is fractured and morale is at an all-time low.

That night, Ashcroft warns Seafield that his only way to break the curse is to kill the monster. The warning deepens the sense of doom surrounding their quest. The trio is forced to confront a truth larger than any creature they face.

Seafield tries to reenlist Dick and Nedge, but they refuse to join him again. Sean's ghost then pursues Seafield toward a boat bound for Lighthouse Island, signaling the mission is far from over.

Ashcroft is attacked and killed by the monster on Lighthouse Island, removing one more ally from the dwindling crew. The loss compounds the crew's fear and determination.

On the boat toward Lighthouse Island, Seafield discovers Ashcroft's severed head and learns the reason they never had a mother: their father killed her. The revelation bleeds into Seafield's resolve as he prepares for the final confrontation.

Arriving on the island, Seafield descends into catacombs where his father's ghost army appears to aid him. The monster defeats them and tells him to fight the creature himself. Sean's ghost lingers, pushing Seafield toward the lair.

Seafield retrieves a sword and slays Sean the ghost in a tense encounter, then enters the monster's lair to confront the creature. The fight tests his will as he battles through illusions and danger to reach the truth.

In the lair, the monster reveals that she and Seafield are siblings due to their father's actions and reels off a bitter backstory before Seafield kills her. The lie about their past unravels as the sword meets her. Sean's ghost then harpoons Seafield's eye, and Seafield dies, becoming a ghost alongside the others.
