Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. The film follows Dante’s journey through hell, loosely based on the Divine Comedy and heavily inspired by Gustav Doré’s illustrations. As Italy’s first feature-length film and the world’s oldest fully surviving feature, it presents elaborate sets and special effects that surpass much of its contemporaries.
