How Knock Knock.. (2024) ends, what the final scene means, which earlier moments set it up and how to read the ending if the film leaves it open. The full ending explained, with every spoiler.
Evan, a seemingly ordinary husband and father, opens his home to two strangers, Genesis and Bel, after a chance encounter. Once inside, the women manipulate him into a night of sex, then reveal that they are under‑age and threaten to call the police unless he complies with their cruel games. After terrorizing him with a hidden camera and a menacing voicemail, they turn the tables completely: they tie him up, bury him in the yard so that only his neck remains exposed, and upload the recorded footage for the world to see. When his wife returns home, she finds him bound and humiliated, the evidence of his betrayal laid bare.
In an unused alternate cut, the girls leave the house with Evan’s family dog, steal the tracking collar, and head toward their next victim. Evan follows the signal, finds them, and knocks on their door, prompting the same “Who’s there?” question that opened the film. This version would have opened a path to explore the girls’ own trauma and possibly set up a sequel, but the theatrical ending leaves the audience with a stark, darkly comic punishment for Evan’s moral lapse.
