Karem the Possession

In 1984, the Briseño family moves from the United States to Durango, Mexico, into a manor haunted by the previous owners' mysterious deaths. The move marks the start of a sequence of uncanny events and unsettling discoveries. The family hopes for a fresh start, unaware of the danger lurking in their new home.

On the first days in the house, Karem hears muttered voices coming from the basement and finds only a toy as a clue to the presence below. The eerie sounds hint at a lurking force that will shape the family's fate. This quiet horror foreshadows the danger to come.

Karem begins keeping a diary and is contacted by an invisible entity who calls himself Naro. The demon promises friendship and hints at hidden powers, and soon she discovers she has gained telekinetic abilities. The diary becomes Naro's conduit to influence her actions.

As Karem's powers grow, her personality shifts from shy to explosive, drawing attention from classmates and teachers. Clarissa, her teacher, tries to discipline the outbursts, grounding her after school disruptions. The social isolation deepens as Naro's presence grows stronger.

Father Miguel, visiting the Briseño household, senses something off and begins investigating the manor. He recalls a similar tragedy tied to the previous family and grows wary of Naro's influence. He reports his concerns to his superiors while trying to warn the family.

During a confrontation in class, Karem uses her powers to kill Elizabeth and Adriana and injures Clarissa who tries to intervene. Earlier, Fabiola falls ill and regurgitates blood, hinting at the malevolent force at work. The violent outburst marks a turning point for the family and the community.

That evening, Karem and Laura travel with Clarissa to visit Fabiola in the hospital. Fabiola dies during the visit, the death framed as a medical complication rather than homicide. The sequence of tragedies continues to escalate around the Briseños.

That night, Laura is possessed by Karem and smothers Clarissa to death in the hospital. Authorities arrest Laura for the murder, heightening the Briseños' peril. Naro's influence appears to be spreading beyond Karem alone.

After the arrests, Naro seizes Eduardo's body and, with Abraham, returns to the manor. In the manor, Naro manifests as a carbonized boy, signaling the demon's full corporeal invasion. The house becomes a focal point of escalating supernatural events.

Inside the manor, Mariana reaches out to Karem, but the girl, fully possessed by Naro, turns on her mother and kills her. The tragedy deepens the Briseño family's wounds and demonstrates how far Naro's influence has spread. The family realizes they are trapped in a demonic scheme.

Cardinal and other priests arrive to help, but Naro uses Mariana and Abraham to turn the attack on Miguel and the Cardinal. The two priests die in the ensuing violence, underscoring the demon's lethal reach. The manor becomes a battlefield between demonic power and holy authority.

During a final exorcism, the Cardinal works to expel Naro from Mariana's corpse. In the chaos, the Cardinal stabs Karem in the stomach to stop further harm. The ritual ends with the Cardinal standing amid the ruin and the house finally falling silent.

With the demon momentarily defeated, the church takes custody of Karem and seals away her diary in a vault to prevent further access. The Briseños face the aftermath under tight security and scrutiny. The family line's legacy hangs in the balance.

Sometime later, Laura, now incarcerated, is contacted in her cell by Naro, who resumes whispering through the thin walls of punishment. The demon's hold lingers, suggesting the cycle of possession may not be easily broken. The Briseño tragedy remains far from over.

In a mid-credits scene, a nun takes Karem to a room where she is lobotomized to prevent Naro from using her abilities again. The end credits show what appears to be the real Briseño family photograph, accompanied by a Latin phrase attributed to the possessed Karem. The demon's legacy is sealed behind institutional walls.
