What Happens at the End of Jhund?

In the final stretch of Jhund, Vijay Barse’s dream of taking the slum team beyond their own streets finally materialises. After months of hard‑won victories, the youngsters are set to fly abroad for the International Slum Football Tournament. Their passports are secured, families are convinced to let their children travel, and even Barse’s own son, who had been studying in New York, returns to help organise the departure.
The most fragile thread is Ankush “Don” Masram, whose criminal past threatens to bar him from the flight. He must first clear his name at the police station, and even a judge’s ruling hangs in the balance. Desperate and on the brink of violence, he is stopped by his friends Babu and Angel, who remind him that he is no longer the man he once was. Their intervention steadies him, and a delivery man brings his freshly issued passport to the house.

Just as Sabhya, the vengeful gang leader, tries to stop him, Bhavana and a police officer intervene, allowing Ankush to rush to the airport. There, at the security checkpoint, a guard discovers a hidden knife in his jean pocket. Overcome with emotion, Ankush discards the weapon, shedding the last physical reminder of his violent life while shedding tears of relief. He passes through security, joins the rest of the team, and boards the plane, ready to represent his community on a global stage.
The film closes on this hopeful departure: a coach who turned a bleak slum into a footballing family, a group of kids who have earned the right to dream big, and a former outlaw who finally leaves his past behind, stepping into a future forged by sport and solidarity.
