It's a Wonderful Knife

As the joyful spirit of Christmas envelops Angel Falls, Winnie Carruthers finds herself caught in a whirlwind of emotions. Her father, David Carruthers (Joel McHale), is mysteriously taken away by Henry Waters (Justin Long), the cunning CEO of Waters Industry, sparking a chain of deception and intrigue. Roger Evans, a long-time resident of the town, becomes embroiled in Henry’s manipulative plot as he pressures Roger into selling his property for a large shopping mall. However, Roger stands firm, determined to pass down the land to his beloved granddaughter Cara—Winnie’s closest friend.

Tragedy soon strikes when “The Angel,” a masked murderer, brutally kills Roger and subsequently targets Cara, leaving Winnie’s brother Jimmy (Aiden Howard) fighting for his life. In a desperate attempt to save those she loves, Winnie confronts The Angel and, in a shocking twist, electrocutes the assailant, only to unveil that the true face behind the mask is none other than Henry.

Fast forward a year later, and David has risen to the top position at Waters Industry, while Winnie still grapples with the haunting memories of Cara’s death. Although her family tries to move on, Winnie cannot escape the shadows of her past. At a Christmas party hosted by her boyfriend Robbie (Jason Fernandes), she encounters an outsider named Bernie (Jess McLeod). However, her fleeting moments of happiness are quickly overshadowed when she uncovers Robbie’s betrayal and the deceit of Darla (Zenia Marshall). Overwhelmed with grief, Winnie makes a wish under the dazzling aurora lights—longing for a life where pain does not exist.

To her shock, the aurora disappears, plunging the town into darkness before flickering back to life. The Angel resurfaces, mirroring Winnie’s turmoil. She soon discovers that the sheriff is now Buck (Sean Depner), Henry’s younger brother, who doesn’t recognize her. Soon after, she is confronted by Henry himself, who now holds the role of the mayor. Winnie realizes she has been thrust into an alternate reality where she never existed, and The Angel has continued its rampage, claiming several more victims including Jimmy.

Desperate and confused, Winnie turns to Bernie for support, and they together uncover a sinister plot: The Angel is targeting teenagers from families that own the properties Henry covets. With renewed determination, Winnie seeks out David, hoping her father can help end Henry’s reign of terror. She manages to convince her aunt Gale (Katharine Isabelle) of the unique circumstances, igniting a frantic race to alter their deadly fate.

However, David proves stubborn and dismissive, pushing Winnie to flee. In her haste, she stumbles upon a harrowing scene—her mother’s lifeless body, another victim of the killer’s cold hand. A terrifying confrontation with The Angel unfolds, where Winnie, Bernie, and Gale unite their strength to tackle the threat. Just as they think they have overcome the danger, Winnie faces an even more shocking revelation: her father, David, is the masked killer. Despite their harrowing escape, a brutal reckoning against their tormentor must occur.

As Winnie and Bernie return to the ethereal bridge under the glimmering aurora, Bernie openly shares her struggles with despair. It is Winnie’s support that reignites her will to live. Yearning for a fresh start, Winnie longs for a reality unfettered by the horror they have endured. The return of the aurora shines a light on their path as they confront Henry at his mind-controlling rally. The atmosphere is thick with his influence as he reveals the dark fate of Jimmy and his manipulation of David, rendering him powerless.

When Henry shifts his focus to Winnie, Bernie bravely intervenes, defeating her rival and liberating the townspeople from Henry’s spell. As the aurora blazes with renewed vigor in the sky, Winnie and Bernie seal their triumph with a kiss, bonded through trials that tested their resolve.

Christmas morning breaks with renewed joy as Winnie shares smiles with her family, who express regret for dismissing her suffering. Later, a visit to Bernie’s home reveals that their shared experience in the alternate reality remains vivid in her friend’s memory. Beneath the glimmering festive lights, they exchange another kiss, affirming that their connection transcends the bounds of reality and time itself.
