In the climax, Inspector Madhukar Bapurao Zende finally corners the notorious killer Carl Bhojraj at the O’Coqueiro Family Restaurant, where Carl has slipped in to make one last overseas call to his wife Chantelle before escaping by sea. Disguised as a waiter, Zende manages to grab Carl while his partner David is tackled by Patil. The rest of Zende’s team—Jacob, Patekar, Deshmane and Naik—rushes in after their rented car breaks down, helping the inspector subdue the criminal.
With Carl in custody, Zende’s superiors demand that the killer be taken back to Mumbai for a high‑profile re‑imprisonment. Lacking a proper transport, Zende improvises by trading a wedding van for a photo of the captured serial killer, then hits the road. Meanwhile, Deshmane and Naik try to smooth things over with the Goa Police by dumping David at the doorstep of the local chief Fonseca, only to have Fonseca learn that the Mumbai police are already moving Carl across the state line.
A tense showdown erupts at the Maharashtra‑Goa border: Fonseca’s officers close in, and a gun is almost drawn on Zende. The confrontation is defused when DGP Chandrakant Purandhare arrives, praises both sides and orders Carl into a police van. The serial killer, with a hint of dark irony, declares that his name will outlive the inspector’s.
The film then cuts to a brief epilogue that mirrors reality: the real‑life Madhukar Zende, the first recipient of the President’s Medal, retired as an Assistant Commissioner in 1996. The fictional Zende returns home to his wife Vijaya, resumes ordinary chores, and is celebrated by every passer‑by at the milk stall for his triumph.
Thus the ending ties up the chase, showcases the messy cooperation between agencies, and underscores the quiet, everyday heroism behind a high‑stakes capture.
