Benj, an eager incoming high school freshman, is determined to reinvent himself. He dreams of dating Bailey, the friend of his older sister, Alyssa, while he and his friends look to establish their new identities.

Benj is assigned a carpool with Ruby, a senior student known for being perpetually stoned. Ruby introduces Benj to a dubious scheme involving selling vitamins to skateboarders, pretending they are drugs.

Koosh convinces his friends to attend his older brother's party that weekend. Benj jumps at the chance as he sees it as an opportunity to get closer to Bailey, while Eddie and Connor are more hesitant.

Benj remembers a night where he found Bailey alone while getting a midnight snack. Their conversation takes an awkward turn when Bailey's nightdress slips, which gives Benj hope for his chances with her.

At the party, Koosh reveals that only one of them can attend, and Benj persuades his friends to let him go. His excitement peaks when he sees Bailey and Alyssa arrive, but soon he finds himself isolated from them.

Connor and Eddie, bored at home, decide to steal Eddie's mom's boyfriend's Tesla to drive to the party. Their journey takes a chaotic turn when intoxicated popular girl Katrina mistakenly enters the car, thinking it's her Uber.

After a chaotic Taco Bell run, Katrina has a serious mishap in the back seat of the car. Connor and Eddie have to decide whether to leave her or take care of her, ultimately choosing the latter to clean up the mess.

Benj gathers the courage to catch Bailey before she leaves the party. She initially wants him to sing, but he panics and it's clear to Bailey that he is more concerned about his image than being genuine.

During the party, Mr. Studebaker, the intoxicated teacher, accidentally sets himself on fire, while Ruby turns the blame on Benj after a confrontation with some skaters. This escalates quickly into a chaotic scene with fights breaking out.

Benj and Bailey finally share a kiss while chaos unfolds around them. This moment reveals their mutual attraction, despite the surrounding madness of the party.

The police arrive to break up the party, causing everyone to panic. Koosh's plans fail when he injures himself while attempting to impress Gabrielle, leaving him alone.

In the aftermath, both Benj and Alyssa find themselves at the hospital after the chaos. Benj confides in Alyssa about his desire to be someone he isn't and she encourages him to embrace his true self.

Eddie finally stands up to his mother’s obnoxious boyfriend, Dennis, asserting himself for the first time. This act of bravery signals a turning point for Eddie's character as he stands up for what he believes in.

At the school pep rally, Katrina publicly thanks Connor and Eddie for their kindness during her embarrassing episode. The moment symbolizes growth and newfound friendships among the characters.

Inspired by his sister's advice, Benj decides to sing a Stevie Wonder song to Bailey in front of the whole school. Although she publicly rejects him, her secret wink reveals that she still has feelings for him.
