Newspaper columnist Mr. Inquisitive calls his readers and poses the whimsical question, “What would you like to do?” Those who reply with a chosen answer become eligible for a prize, prompting the columnist to invite several entertainers to appear. Among the callers are torch singer Vera Van, bandleader Lester Cole with his Texas Rangers, and a variety of late‑period vaudeville acts, all eager to step onto the stage and perform.
