Zi Hao, a Primary 6 student from Shanghai studying in Singapore, struggles with English, Mathematics, Chinese, and Science. He spends excessive time playing video games at home, which his mother counters with intense memorisation drills and long tuition sessions at Xin Yuan Fei Edu Hub. He excels in Chinese and Mathematics, so the tuition mainly targets his weaker subjects.

As tutoring helps his marks rise, Zi Hao becomes a rival to the school's top student and to his friend Jayden. The improved competition strains their friendship, with Jayden's mother warning him to stay away from Zi Hao. Class 6A shifts its attention to their ongoing contest for top marks.

Jayden's controlling mother pressures him to maintain top status and warns him to distance himself from Zi Hao. The looming competition creates tension between the two friends, turning camaraderie into rivalry in Class 6A.

A newly appointed form teacher, Mr. Lee, solves a complex algebra problem in front of Class 6A, earning admiration for his intellect and presence. His arrival shifts classroom dynamics and earns the students' respect.

Zi Hao's mother grapples with a failing marriage as her husband in China refuses to provide financial support. The family is evicted from their semi-detached home and moves to a crowded HDB flat. A text message about the divorce arrives, intensifying the emotional strain on mother and son.

Zi Hao is signed up for an English speech competition, competing against Jayden and other classmates. The event adds public-speaking pressure to the students and marks a new social milestone in their competition.

In the competition, Jayden speaks on 'My Mother' but struggles emotionally due to his strained relationship with Sophia and finishes last. Zi Hao speaks on the same topic and places fifth. After the event, Sophia manipulates Jayden into planting cheat notes in Zi Hao's pencil case.

Zi Hao is caught with cheat notes during the Science Preliminary Examination and is interrogated by Mr. Lee and Mr. Lim. It is revealed that Rachel wrote the notes to help Jayden. Moved by Jayden's confession about his mother's abuse, Zi Hao deliberately lowers his Math score by crossing out correct answers to ease his friend's burden.

Sophia is summoned to a meeting about her mistreatment of Jayden and files a formal complaint against Mr. Lee, accusing him of meddling in her marriage. The school principal tries to resolve the issue, but Mr. Lee resigns, leaving Class 6A in tears.

The next day, Jayden's mother and Zi Hao's mother argue over Zi Hao's supposed margin manipulation. Sophia attempts to report Wen Ting to immigration authorities to have her deported. Jayden confronts his mother, saying he no longer wants a mother like her; she slaps him, and he runs into the street, where a car accident puts him in a coma.

Jayden remains in a coma as his family confronts guilt and sorrow. Meanwhile, Zi Hao and his classmates complete the PSLE and prepare to enter different secondary schools. The school community starts to adjust to life after the upheaval.

Jayden wakes from his coma and decides to enroll in a neighbourhood secondary school rather than a prestigious institution, realizing that success comes from hard work and doing one's best. Zi Hao continues on his own path after PSLE, reinforcing the message that effort matters more than school ranking.
