Bert Gibbs is a cheerful Cockney plumber who encounters celebrated Russian film star Ilya Myona. Seeking publicity, Ilya convinces Bert to pose as her fiancé, hinting he might actually have to marry her. Their scheme is tangled by two rogue Bolsheviks; one has a daughter, Lenina, who still loves Bert from his plumbing days. In the chaos, Bert must choose between love, duty, and the absurdities of their pretended aristocracy.
