Set in Moscow, 1955, the film follows a group of young friends who defy Soviet orthodoxy by immersing themselves in hot jazz. Their love of the music becomes a form of rebellion against Cold‑War repression. When party official Mels falls for Polly, an independent jazz enthusiast, his romance threatens his Communist Party membership as he is drawn into her free‑spirited, subversive circle.
