Set amid rolling fields and a world where wealth and tradition shape every choice, Heer, Firdous, is a young woman born into a prosperous rural family. Ranjha, Ejaz Durrani, the youngest of four brothers and his father’s favorite, leaves his own village after the wives of his brothers mock him and refuse him food, an insult that drives him toward the village where Heer lives.

During a chance encounter, Heer offers him work tending to her family's cattle, and a quiet bond quickly grows into a deep and enduring love. But Heer’s jealous uncle, Kaido, Ajmal, will stop at nothing to keep them apart, using every obstacle at his disposal and the weight of family pride to separate two people who have found each other.

Pressure from Heer's father leads to a marriage with Saida Khera, Munawar Zarif, a decision that breaks Heer’s heart. Overcome with grief, she seeks refuge in a shrine, hoping for guidance and strength to endure the separation from the man she loves.

Ranjha, moved by the sacred call of Allah and the resolute pull of Heer’s memory, finds her and they are briefly reunited. Their happiness is interrupted when the local ruler arrests Ranjha, though he is eventually freed and allowed to marry Heer.

On their wedding day, Kaido poisons Heer, and the tragedy deepens. Hearing the calls of Heer’s soul and sensing the truth, Ranjha realizes Kaido’s crime, and he kills Kaido with Kaido’s walking stick before he collapses himself. The lovers pass away, joined in the afterlife.
