Terrified, Sukma flees, but Jati’s obsessive need for order forces him to notice the misplaced photograph and realise she has seen everything. He pursues her through the jungle, a frantic chase that turns the scene into pure horror. When he catches her, he drags her back to his house, beats her unconscious, and then, in a manic frenzy, begins to destroy the cabinets that hold the hearts.

At this point Jati’s carefully constructed veneer finally collapses.
