Hermann, a NATO staffer in Brussels, visits home only on weekends and holds chauvinistic views. His wife Merete, a newly promoted lieutenant, keeps her army career secret. Sergeant Vasby suspects her of espionage after mysterious NATO contacts, prompting a comic spy chase that involves many. When Hermann is recalled, he simply 'forgets' to tell Merete.
