Lieutenant Ras visits his old barracks and meets his former recruit friends returning from an exercise where they mocked the sergeant major. He refuses to join them, busy planning a Ranger Corps drill, and suggests they take the entrance exam, confident they’d pass. On the way home they board the wrong train, end up stranded in a deserted forest, are surrounded by paratroopers, and face an unexpected test.
