In present‑day San Diego a series of grisly murders resurfaces, each victim found with two puncture wounds in the neck and completely drained of blood. Lieutenant Dan Richardson suspects a vampire but doubts his own instincts, so he summons the blind art dealer Micah, who confirms the supernatural culprit. Micah reminds Dan of the harrowing case of Jack Frost, who was forced to kill his best friend Nat McKenzie after Nat turned into a vampire, underscoring the lethal stakes of the current hunt.
