A baffling case lands a hard‑boiled detective on the trail of a kidnapping. Two small‑time crooks, Trigger (Mickey Rooney) and Leo (Dick Emery), are hired by the unscrupulous J.K. (Peter Cook) to abduct his niece Victoria (Alexandra Bastedo), the daughter of a wealthy businessman. Pressured to act quickly, the police chief dispatches officers Kopek (John Candy) and Broom (Lawrence Dane) to locate her and return her safely.
