Meghna Mathur [Priyanka Chopra Jonas] is an ambitious aspiring model who dreams of Mumbai’s bright runways, choosing to leave her Chandigarh home despite her father’s wish that she become a chartered accountant. From the moment she sets out, the road to fame is crowded with competition, rejection, and the small, steady steps that inch her closer to the top. Early days are rough, and Meghna finds herself tested by endless auditions and the daunting hustle of a industry that rewards grit as much as looks. Along the way, she befriends another up-and-coming model named Manav [Arjan Bajwa], and meets Rohit [Rohit Roy]—an aspiring designer who lends a hand and introduces her to Vinay Khosla [Harsh Chhaya], a powerful figure in the fashion world.

At Rahul Arora’s fashion show, Meghna encounters Shonali Gujral [Kangana Ranaut], a reigning top model whose star power casts a long shadow. The path to the spotlight runs through a web of influence, and Meghna is instructed to have her portfolio photographed by Kartik [Rohit Roy], while she also navigates the pressures and snubs that come with climbing the ladder. To cover Kartik’s fees, Meghna takes a bold step and shoots a lingerie advertisement, mentored by the budding model Janet [Mugdha Godse]. The photographs gain traction when Meghna’s cover appears on a magazine, but the sight of the cover at home prompts a harsh reaction from Mumbai relatives who urge her to come back, forcing her to confront the personal cost of her rising fame. She later shares a cramped apartment with Manav, a temporary refuge on her way up.

Anisha Roy [Kitu Gidwani], an executive at Panache, spots Meghna’s raw drive and introduces her to Abhijit Sarin [Arbaaz Khan], a key figure at the agency. Abhijit is impressed by Meghna’s confidence and ambition, and a plan to shift Panache’s lineup into Meghna’s favor begins to take shape. The drama intensifies as Shonali’s dependence on drugs threatens her standing, and a tense misunderstanding temporarily puts Meghna in a precarious position within the agency. Yet Abhijit makes a decisive move, replacing Shonali with Meghna as Panache’s new leading face, propelling Meghna into overnight stardom.

With fame comes personal upheaval. Meghna’s relationship with Manav falters as her life becomes consumed by the fashion world, and she begins an affair with Abhijit [Arbaaz Khan]. She also learns she is pregnant with Abhijit’s child, but contractual terms force her to terminate the pregnancy. The revelation of the affair prompts Meghna to disclose it to Abhijit’s wife, and Abhijit ends Meghna’s contract with Panache. The emotional backlash pushes Meghna toward self-destructive choices: she battles alcoholism, descends into a volatile nightlife, and, during a moment of weakness at a rave, uses cocaine and awakens to the consequences of her escalating lifestyle. She returns home to Chandigarh, grappling with guilt and loss, and spends more than a year away from the Mumbai lights.

When her father urges her to return to the city, Meghna makes a tentative comeback. She reconnects with Janet and reconnects with the fashion world by modeling for Rohit’s show—though she freezes on the ramp at the moment the lights blaze to life, a jolt that mirrors the fragility of her career. She reaches out to the past, seeking reconciliation with Manav, only to learn that he is now established and engaged. In a parallel arc, Shonali reappears on television as a mentally fragile, homeless alcoholic, and Meghna opens her heart by taking her in, attempting to help her find stability again.

A new opportunity arrives when Rahul invites Meghna to be the star model of his show, but the appearance of Shonali’s troubling absence just before the event casts a pall over the proceedings. The police inform Meghna that Shonali has died from a drug overdose, a devastating blow that tests Meghna’s resolve. In a defining moment, she steadies herself and walks the ramp with renewed purpose, reclaiming her inner strength. The story closes with Meghna choosing a healthier path: she gives up alcohol and cigarettes and continues to march forward, culminating in a triumphant walk on the Paris runway.
