Yukio, once a farmer, now drives a dump‑truck in the industrial town of Kashima. He is haunted by the drowning of his two young sons, whose names he has tattooed on his back as penance. A bitter rivalry with his cultured younger brother in Tokyo intensifies his isolation, and his amphetamine addiction has turned him into a loner estranged from family, friends and colleagues.
