The film closes with the family still gathered around the decision that has divided them: whether to sell Leo’s ancestral olive ranch. After a tense lunch in which Leo lays out the financial burden of keeping the property and offers a deal with the corporate buyer RT Foods, his daughters react differently—Rebeca opposes any sale, Julia will only let go of the land but not the house, and Mariana remains torn between practical advice and a lingering attachment to her father’s wishes. The argument ends without a clear verdict; the siblings share a cigarette, laugh, and try to brush off the heaviness of the conversation, but the unresolved tension lingers beneath their smiles.
Later that night Leo and his son Benny slip away from the house for a simple camping‑out under the olives, a ritual that underscores their deep bond. While Benny sleeps, Leo steps outside for a cigarette and, in the quiet of the grove, the apparition of his late wife appears. She watches him for a brief moment, offering a fleeting sense of comfort before fading away, leaving Leo alone with the echo of his past. The vision forces him to confront the paradox at the heart of the story: the ranch is both his greatest responsibility and his most treasured memory, and letting it go would free him financially while also severing his ties to the life he has built with his family.
In a final, quieter tableau the sisters sit in traffic on their way home, each reflecting on what the gathering revealed—Rebeca’s worry for her nieces, Julia’s struggle to find direction, and Mariana’s desire to assert her independence despite her father’s expectations. The film ends with Leo standing among the olive trees, haunted by what he has lost and what he might lose, suggesting that the future of the ranch—and of the family’s fragile connections—remains uncertain, even as the characters learn to live with the weight of their shared past.
