Dentist and New Yorker Peter Pearce finds himself in a difficult situation as he tries to persuade his elderly father, Simon Pearce, against divorcing his wife after 65 long years of marriage. Meanwhile, his older son Nick Pearce experiences a charming encounter with his coworker Thea, setting the stage for intertwined family dynamics.

Fast forward six years, and Peter is now facing life as a divorced man after a 35-year marriage, while his father’s advancing dementia makes it impossible for him to embrace life as he once hoped. Nick, now in his thirties, is preparing to marry Thea. Just before the wedding, Nick plans a stag party trip to Tulum, Mexico, accompanied by his younger brother Mickey Pearce and a few friends. Unbeknownst to them, Peter is also traveling to Tulum, attempting to navigate his own emotional turmoil after signing the divorce papers from his estranged wife Maria Pearce.
