John Kruger, also known as “Eraser,” played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is a dedicated U.S. Marshal working within the Federal Witness Security Protection Program (WITSEC). His unique role involves “erasing” high-profile witnesses, effectively faking their deaths and providing them with new identities. Under the guidance of his mentor, James Caan as U.S. Marshal Robert DeGuerin, John manages a staggering 14,600 protected witnesses.

The plot thickens when John is tasked with safeguarding Lee Cullen, portrayed by Vanessa Williams, a senior executive at Cyrez Corporation, which specializes in military weaponry. Lee uncovers a dangerous scheme involving the sale of a secretive electronic pulse rifle to Russian terrorist Sergei Ivanovich Petrofsky, played by Olek Krupa. Recognizing the potential catastrophic consequences should such firepower fall into the wrong hands, she secretly copies crucial evidence onto two discs, intending one for the FBI and the other as leverage to expose Cyrez’s corruption.

However, her plans face immediate danger when William Donahue, the corrupt CEO of Cyrez, played by James Cromwell, discovers her intentions. In a desperate act, he takes his own life after confronting Lee, leaving her only narrowly escaping the clutches of the corporation. Disillusioned with the FBI’s ability to protect her, she refuses to enter WITSEC, despite John’s warnings. In a betrayal of trust, the FBI manages to substitute her evidence disc with a counterfeit.

As Lee attempts to access the second disc back home, alarms ring at Cyrez, prompting a lethal response as mercenaries, led by J. Scar, track her down. Displaying impressive capabilities, the mercenaries wield the advanced pulse rifles, utilizing X-Ray vision and penetrative abilities. In a heroic move, John arrives just in time to whisk Lee away to safety in New York City.

Throughout their turbulent escape, Lee confides in John about Cyrez’s true intentions to develop a compact hyper-velocity pulse weapon under false pretenses, indicating they may have sought better financial offers elsewhere. Tension escalates when John discovers that a mole inside WITSEC, possibly planted by Donahue, is targeting witnesses, putting Lee’s life at grave risk.

In a gripping sequence of events, John unveils the shocking betrayal of DeGuerin, who orchestrates a series of killings to maintain his cover while furthering the conspiracy. John, upon realizing the gravity of the situation, fights to protect Lee, and a deadly game ensues as he attempts to unravel the web of treachery involving not only DeGuerin but also Undersecretary Daniel Harper.

As the story unfolds, John and Lee infiltrate Cyrez to recover and decrypt the second disc, learning of a dangerous shipment involving Petrofsky that is to be dispatched from the docks in Baltimore. Drawing assistance from Johnny Casteleone, a mobster portrayed by Robert Pastorelli, they confront a chain of treasonous plots culminating in a final showdown that leads to a dramatic confrontation atop shipping containers. With swift action, John thwarts DeGuerin’s deadly plans, securing evidence of their innocence.

Ultimately, as the stakes reach an all-time high, John concocts a daring plan to fake their deaths, ensuring their safety as they navigate an uncertain future. In the last moments of this thrilling narrative, as they drive away, John coolly remarks, > “They caught a train,” signifying justice served against those who sought to betray them.
