Doctor Sanada treats gangster Matsunaga after a gunfight leaves him wounded and discovers he has tuberculosis. Sanada urges him to stay for treatment, a choice that would upend the gangster’s lifestyle. Their uneasy friendship deepens until Matsunaga’s former boss Okada is released from prison and returns.
