Dr. Gabriel Eisenstein, legal counsel for Arabayam & Co., is serving an eight‑day sentence in Grinzing prison for insulting a public official. At the same time his employer, Basil Arabayam, tasks him with infiltrating Prince Orlofsky’s ball, posing as the Marquis Renard alongside a fictitious wife. The couple must persuade the prince to donate oil‑rich Bakutin lands on the Black Sea, which will then be transferred to Arabayam.
