Delgo

The film opens with breathtaking visuals of clouds filled with majestic, amphibian-like whale creatures soaring through the sky. As the scene transitions to the vibrant ground below, we find an exuberant array of peculiar wildlife and a man teaching a child to play ball. Against this backdrop, a voice-over contrasts the two distinct peoples inhabiting the land: the Lokni and the Nohrin. The Lokni are humanoid, bald, and vaguely reptilian, while the Nohrin display a more mammalian appearance, complete with wings.

The King of the Nohrin, Zahn (Louis Gossett Jr.), strikes a precarious deal with the Lokni for a haven in their territory of Jhamora as their own homeland becomes less hospitable. However, with the influx of Nohrin seeking refuge, tensions rise, and the Lokni leaders deny further entrance. Seizing the opportunity, Sedessa (Anne Bancroft), the King’s sister, ignites a catastrophic conflict that leads to the slaughter of innocent Lokni and ultimately war. Her treachery results in her being stripped of her royal title and exiled, having attempted to poison the King. After a harrowing turn of events, she loses her wings and spends years in bitterness.

Fast forward 15 years, Sedessa has adapted, sporting prosthetic wings that hide her resentment. In the meantime, amid the tumultuous landscape, Delgo (Freddie Prinze Jr.) and his friend Filo navigate their vibrant world, where their adventures lead them into the heart of the ongoing conflict. When Delgo’s reckless race through the canyons leads him to the edge of a cliff, he finds himself rescued by Princess Kyla (Jennifer Love Hewitt), the Nohrin princess, despite the forbidden nature of their peoples’ interactions.

Kyla’s daring nature clashes with her royal duties, particularly with General Bogardus (Val Kilmer), who is determined to uphold peace while facing pressure as tensions escalate.
