The film dramatizes the November 11, 1919 clash that was pivotal for Latvia’s independence. One year after World I’s official end, a renegade German general and his troops still threatened the capital. Despite being largely inexperienced volunteers, Latvian riflemen defeated the larger, better‑armed German and Russian mercenaries.
