Billu is the son of Mudaliar and a beloved figure in Royapuram, treated almost like a foster son by the locality. He encounters Susi at the railway station and quickly falls for her, displaying a protective and loyal nature. He makes a solemn promise to never leave her, even if memory fades come to pass. His determination to reunite with Susi drives much of the film's conflict and action.

Susi travels from Bangalore to Chennai and becomes the focal point of Billu's affections. She grapples with PTSD after an accident, forgetting events from the past three years. When she is cured, she fears losing Billu and resists changes to her life. Her evolving memory and feelings test the strength of their bond.
