Crackerjack

Jack Wild and his family arrive at a secluded Rocky Mountains resort via a cable car. The trip, meant to be a peaceful vacation, is shadowed by Jack's PTSD and the memory of his family's murder during an earlier crime investigation. He tries to stay guarded, even as he meets KC, the resort's activities coordinator.

During dinner, Jack meets KC and shares a dance with her. He spots the mob boss he had been investigating, and the sight triggers a volatile reaction that causes him to storm off. The tension foreshadows the danger awaiting the guests.

Terrorists quickly take control of the resort and threaten guests to hand over a cache of diamonds. The mob boss refuses to reveal the diamonds' location and dies, taking his secrets to the grave. The stage is set for a dangerous standoff as Jack becomes a thorn in Getz's side.

Jack begins picking off Getz's men and working to locate the diamonds, hoping to use them as leverage. His pursuit intensifies as he threads through the hotel and underground areas, risking his life with each move. The search marks a shift from retreat to active pursuit.

Jack signals for help from a nearby military base, but Getz shoots down the rescue helicopter and plants a bomb to stop any rescue via cable car. The clock ticks as the terrorists escalate their plan. The resort's guests realize they are on their own.

Jack tries to warn a group of soldiers during a cable car rescue, but they mistake him for a terrorist and open fire. The cable car explodes, eliminating any immediate chance of rescue. The survivors must face the escalating danger alone.

Injured, Jack limps to the first aid station and discovers Oliver Green hiding from the terrorists. Green reveals that an avalanche is planned to destroy the hotel and hide the diamonds' theft, preventing retaliation. This intel pushes Jack to re-evaluate his next move.

Jack deduces the diamonds are hidden in the ice within the mob boss's hotel room. He confronts Getz in the suite, but Getz discovers him and seizes the diamonds for himself. The traitor's plan intensifies the danger to Jack and the remaining guests.

Getz reveals that the diamonds are to fund and train a small army to take over the world. He shoots Michael, who survives thanks to a hip flask Jack had taken earlier in the film. The plan advances toward a larger, deadly objective.

Getz attempts to escape by helicopter, but Jack destroys it, forcing Getz to flee on foot. The guests and rescuers retreat to a nearby cave as the glacier erupts, destroying the hotel. Getz is killed in the ensuing disaster.

KC, now out of a job due to the resort assault, resolves to rebuild her life. She promises to visit Jack in Chicago, hinting at a future where their paths might cross again. The human cost of the crisis lingers as the couple's bond is left unresolved.

With Getz dead and the danger over, Jack's PTSD remains, but his victory begins the slow process of healing. He heads home to Chicago with a renewed sense that life can continue despite the trauma. The film closes on a note of cautious hope.
