Cave of the Living Dead

The story takes place in a remote Balkan mountain village, a sleepy settlement nestled high in a snow-swept valley. The village features winding streets and old stone houses that surround a ominous grotto rumored to harbor ancient secrets beneath a nearby castle.

Professor von Adelsberg is a cultured, enigmatic nobleman living in the high castle above the village. He conducts blood studies and is revealed to be the vampire responsible for the murders, using blood as a lure to control victims and maintain secrecy.

Inspector Frank Doren is an American Interpol agent sent to solve the string of murders in the secluded village. He discovers the killings coincide with power outages and that corpses disappear after each crime, ultimately uncovering the vampire plot.

Karin Schumann is the young assistant to Professor von Adelsberg at the castle. She becomes romantically involved with Inspector Doren during his investigation, and her safety is threatened as the vampire plot unfolds, ultimately helping reveal the vampire's coffin.
