What Happens at the End of Bull Run?

How Bull Run (2025) ends, what the final scene means, which earlier moments set it up and how to read the ending if the film leaves it open. The full ending explained, with every spoiler.

Bobby Sanders finally reaches the point where the walls of his firm close in completely. After Chandler’s death, the ruthless new boss Masterson piles the doomed coal‑IPO on him, forces him to green‑wash the company, and then, when Bobby secretly records Masterson’s confession about an affair and uses his work email to spread it, compliance flags the message. Masterson discovers the audio, the two tempting job offers Bobby was weighing, and the fact that the coal venture has collapsed thanks to Gemma’s short. He confronts Bobby with a thinly‑veiled threat: he can have Bobby’s career ruined and even land him in prison unless Bobby pledges absolute loyalty.

Bound to Masterson, Bobby is demoted to a cramped corner desk outside his boss’s office, reduced to menial tasks and stripped of any agency. His budding romance with Michelle—who promises a future with a WNBA franchise—crumbles because he can no longer leave the firm, and the promise of a new position at Gemma’s hedge fund evaporates under Masterson’s blackmail. The film shows Bobby’s mental and physical decline: he loses his confidence, his relationships, and his sense of self.

In a final, desperate act, Bobby commandeers the car his boss is driving, stops it in the middle of the road, and walks away, leaving Masterson stranded. He throws the pitch deck into a garbage truck and disappears, echoing the office legend of Hendrix, the analyst who burned his bridges and vanished. The narrator leaves his fate open—perhaps he heads to South America, maybe he joins the hedge fund, maybe the coal company somehow survives—but the message is clear: the relentless grind has already taken everything worth keeping. Bobby’s escape, however brief or uncertain, underscores that the true cost of the toxic, always‑on Wall Street culture is the loss of one’s independence, love, and sanity, not the money it promises.
