Eleven-year-old Kenza navigates a complex family dynamic on Curaçao, living with her father, a pragmatic police officer, and her grandfather, who embraces the island’s spiritual heritage. Their differing worldviews create tension as the grandfather prepares for his transition to the spirit world. Caught between these opposing forces, Kenza seeks her own identity and finds solace in her grandfather’s traditions, discovering a connection to her island’s roots beyond her father’s rational approach.
