Frivolous young Marie de Severac is chilled into a more virtuous path after her father recounts a horrific legend of an equally reckless woman who was entombed alive. The narrative examines the tension of moral reckoning. The silent drama marked Rex Ingram’s debut; he later remade it as Trifling Women (1922). Black Orchids is regarded as a lost film.
