During the 2008 Bush administration, as Utah wilderness was being auctioned off to energy companies, college student Tim DeChristopher took a surprising action. He placed a $1.7 million bid, successfully winning 22,000 acres of untouched land. This act of peaceful protest aimed to block the government’s plans and became a pivotal moment, ultimately leading to his imprisonment and inspiring the climate justice movement.
