What Happens in Bejawada: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Bejawada (2011) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Kali Prasad, aka Kali, Prabhu is the man of the masses in Bejawada, and the faction he leads has a firm grip on the temple city. The neighborhood pulses with the energy of his streetwise authority, and his influence stretches across local power structures, from crowded markets to crowded political rooms. By his side stands Vijay Krishna, Mukul Dev the trusted right hand whose loyalty keeps Kali’s operations coordinated and ready for the next move.

Yet behind Kali’s confident front, a bitter sibling rivalry gnaws at the edges of power. Shankar Prasad, aka Shankar, Abhimanyu Singh resents Kali’s supremacy and resents the way the family’s name is tied to fear and control. His growing resentment explodes in violence when he brutally kills Kali, scattering rumors through Bejawada that Vijay Krishna was the killer. The shock of this act shakes the city and sets off a chain of confrontations that reach through the political world and into the streets.

Shankar’s manipulation doesn’t stop with murder. With the help of Ramana, Kota Srinivasa Rao, a powerful politician, Shankar tries to ride a wave of public anger into formal power. He imagines a brighter path for himself, but his plan is undermined by Vijay Krishna’s deep-rooted influence over student unions and labor movements. The city becomes a chessboard, with factions maneuvering for control of youth, workers, and voters, each move watched by a wary public.

Into this volatile mix comes Siva Krishna, Naga Chaitanya Akkineni, Kali’s other brother, who steps forward when the moment calls for relentless action. Siva embodies a cool, daring, and charismatic response to the chaos that Shankar has stirred. Alongside Siva stands Geethanjali, Geeta for short, Amala Paul, a college acquaintance who loves Siva and challenges the expectations placed on them by their families and the city’s power brokers. Her devotion creates a private sanctuary amid the public storm, even as her father, Adi Vishnu, Ahuti Prasad, a high-ranking policeman, remains wary of the couple’s relationship.

The romance and loyalty between Siva and Geeta are tested when Geeta chooses to leave her father’s house to stand with Siva, despite fierce objections from her family and the forces arrayed against them. As the lovers navigate this division, tension escalates into gang warfare that spills into every corner of Bejawada—the markets, the campuses, and the corridors of power. In a brutal turn of events, Shankar eliminates Siva’s elder brother Jaya Krishna, and the personal vendetta intensifies the already heated climate.

Inspired by a desire to restore balance and avenge his family, Siva Krishn a responds with calculated fury. The clash between Shankar and Siva becomes the central axis of the film, pitting kin against kin and city against city in a saga of revenge, loyalty, and survival. Siva’s pursuit of justice culminates in a decisive confrontation where Shankar falls, and the city watches as the new godfather of Bejawada emerges from the flames of old loyalties and new power.

In the end, the film paints a portrait of a city that is almost another character—a place where tradition and ambition collide, where families feud as openly as political factions, and where a single act of vengeance can redraw the map of influence. Through battles on the streets and battles within the heart, Siva Krishna rises to claim authority, reshaping Bejawada’s underworld and redefining who governs the city’s pulse. The story balances high-stakes action with intimate family drama, delivering a saga about power, revenge, and the costs of taking charge in a city where everyone is watching.

Why does Shankar kill his own brother Kali?

Shankar Prasad kills his brother Kali because he harbors deep resentment toward Kali's supremacy and control over Bejawada. He believes killing Kali will give him power and a chance to reshape his own identity, replacing his brother's authority with his own.

Foreshadowing: Shankar's resentment is hinted at early in the film as he grows jealous of Kali's status.

Q2

How does Shankar manipulate the truth after killing Kali?

After murdering Kali, Shankar immediately spreads a rumor throughout Bejawada that Vijay Krishna was the killer. This calculated lie is designed to turn public opinion against Vijay Krishna and create chaos in Kali's former faction, making it easier for Shankar to seize power while deflecting suspicion from himself.

Q3

Why does Shankar kill Vijay Krishna, Kali's right-hand man?

Shankar kills Vijay Krishna to eliminate any remaining opposition and consolidate his own power. Vijay Krishna was Kali's trusted aide who coordinated operations across student unions and labor movements. By removing him, Shankar hopes to destroy the existing power structure and establish his own dominance over Bejawada's underworld.

Q9

Why does Siva Krishna become the new godfather of Bejawada?

Siva Krishna becomes the new godfather after killing Shankar because he is the last surviving member of the family that originally controlled Bejawada's underworld. With Shankar eliminated, there is no rival left to challenge Siva's claim. He consolidates power by taking control of the city's criminal networks, essentially replacing the old order with a new one.

Q10

Why does Shankar's political alliance with Ramana fail?

These groups give the opposing faction deep influence over the city's youth and workers, undermining Shankar's attempt to gain legitimate political power. Without control over these key constituencies, Shankar cannot consolidate his political position.
