During World War II, four close friends—Lovro, Nenad, Stevan, and Ivan—fought against the Ustashas and Nazis as partisans. Sixteen years later, they achieved recognition as filmmakers in Communist Yugoslavia. In 1957, suspicions about their sexual orientation lead to the assignment of Emir, a party loyalist, who aims to undermine their careers and lives. Their fight for artistic freedom evolves into a struggle for survival, forcing Emir to question his own convictions.
