Be a Man!! Samurai School

Genji Togashi visits the grave of his brother to pay respects and reflect on his path. He tells the spirit that he too intends to enroll in Otokojuku to become a man. The moment sets the tone for his resolve throughout the story.

While partying, Hidemaro Gokukouji runs into thugs from Kanto Gogakuren. He is saved by Momotaro Tsurugi, who steps in to defuse the danger. The incident foreshadows Hidemaro's future path and his eventual enrollment.

Hidemaro's mother reveals that she has already decided to enroll him in Otokojuku to become a man. The decision is presented as a stepping stone to his growth. This parental push contrasts with his rough upbringing.

At the Otokojuku enrollment ceremony, the head instructor Oni-Hige attacks Hidemaro for not fitting in. The confrontation highlights the harsh 'rise to manhood' regime. It sets the menacing tone for the school's brutal environment.

After the assault, Oni-Hige leads the way to meet the school's principal, Heihachi Edajima. Edajima delivers an introductory speech that frames Otokojuku's philosophy. The moment establishes the authority structure of the school.

During orientation, first years Tazawa and Matsuo are forced to perform ridiculous tasks and manly displays by Tange and the second-years. Togashi and Toramaru protest, sparking a brawl. The chaos showcases the school's brutal rite of passage.

Gouji Akashi, the second-year leader, challenges Momo to a sword duel. The confrontation is interrupted by Oni-Hige before a verdict can be reached. The moment illustrates the power dynamics among Otokojuku's students.

Iron Helmet orders all students to identify the underwear owners, insisting that real men wear a fundoshi. Togashi suspects the briefs belong to Hidemaro and confronts the prank. He is punished by being placed in a tub of oil with a candle, testing his endurance.

Togashi endures the burning oil as the flame nears the top of the leaf candle. He remains steadfast, delivering a message of manliness to Hidemaro. The ordeal cements Togashi's resolve.

Unable to bear the pressure, Hidemaro bolts in the night. He later returns to Otokojuku after Shioya's encouragement, resuming his path. The moment marks a turning point in his commitment.

Kanto Gogakuren led by Omito Date invades Otokojuku, overpowering most of the students. Akashi is nearly killed and saved by Momo. Edajima interrupts the chaos to restore order and shift the focus to a formal contest.

Edajima steps in to settle the conflict with the 3 Great Astonishing Assaults tournament. He selects Momo, Togashi, and Toramaru to represent Otokojuku. The proposal marks the official path to proving manhood through competition.

Togashi visits his brother's grave again before the tournament. Oni-Hige appears and gives him his late brother's dosu knife, fueling his motivation. Meanwhile, Momo, Toramaru, and Matsuo train—sword, bear wrestling, and ōendan—while Hidemaro and Tazawa contemplate how they can contribute.
