Clara directs rehearsals for a play about Fernando Pessoa while searching for right man and true love. Her roommate and confidante, Ana—a lesbian actress playing Mário de Sá‑Carneiro—harbors love for Clara and steadies her after each disappointment. Ana’s nature contrasts with Sá‑Carneiro’s decadent, nostalgic voice, echoing Pessoa’s heteronyms.
