Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

The film opens with a prophetic scroll that hints at a dark turn of events sparked by the release of Alfred Hitchcock's *The Birds* in 1963. It foreshadows the unusual and sinister happenings that will unfold years later, capturing the audience’s attention with its ominous tone.

In 1975, a shocking incident occurs when a tomato bursts from a woman's garbage disposal. Her initial confusion quickly escalates to sheer horror as the vegetable closes in on her, culminating in a terrifying and fatal encounter.

Authorities arrive at the scene only to find that the woman is covered in a startling red substance. To their horror, they uncover that this substance is not blood, but the juice of a killer tomato, setting the stage for a string of horrifying incidents.

As the chaos unfolds, the public's fear grows, prompting Jim Richardson, the President's press secretary, to insist there is no true threat. Despite his reassurances, the attacks by these malicious tomatoes continue to escalate.

In response to the strange tomato attacks, the President convenes a specialized task force led by Mason Dixon. The team includes diverse characters like a disguise expert, a scuba diver, an Olympic swimmer, and a soldier, each bringing their unique skills to combat the vegetable menace.

Mason’s team begins their mission with humor, as disguise expert Sam Smith attempts to blend in with the tomatoes. His efforts are quickly compromised when he inquires about ketchup while casually enjoying a hotdog around the campfire.

Amidst the mounting troubles, Richardson visits Mind Makers, an advertising agency known for its bizarre campaigns. Ted Swan, the executive, wastes funds on foolish ideas, such as a bumper sticker meant to combat tomato fears, showcasing the absurdity of the situation.

The team faces an unexpected challenge as a masked assassin targets Mason Dixon with the intention to sabotage the mission. This creates additional complications and intensifies the already chaotic environment.

Lois Fairchild begins her investigation into the tomato attacks, but is misinterpreted as a spy by soldier Wilbur Finletter. Their encounter leads to a comedic hotel room raid, showcasing the whimsical nature of their predicament.

Finletter chases the assassin yet again, only for another attempt on Mason’s life to fail. This continued pursuit illustrates the chaos and comedic mishaps that often accompany their serious mission.

As the chaos escalates on the West Coast, Mason Dixon discovers a peculiar trail of tomato juice, sparking his curiosity. He embarks on a risky pursuit that leads him to an apartment where unexpected encounters await.

During his pursuit, Dixon's vehicle is hijacked by the assassin, prompting a slow-paced car chase that is filled with comedic elements. However, the chase comes to an abrupt and humorous halt when he knocks himself unconscious.

After regaining consciousness, Dixon learns from Richardson about the killer tomatoes' vulnerability. This revelation fuels a plan to assemble survivors to tackle the tomato threat head-on.

The survivors gather in a stadium to confront the tomatoes, using the tune 'Puberty Love' as their auditory weapon. The once-threatening tomatoes begin to shrink, falling prey to the oncoming crowd.

In the climax, Fairchild is trapped by a giant tomato, but Dixon intervenes by singing to it. The chaos subsides with a triumphant carrot emerging, declaring victory over the once-feared tomatoes, leaving the audience with a mix of relief and absurdity.
