A medical student and a steelworker forge a bond through letters, sharing a copy of Leo Tolstoy’s "Resurrection." Their correspondence ignites both affection and animosity, leading to two murders and a sudden separation. A police officer’s investigation proves fruitless. Ten years pass, transforming the student into a respected doctor with a loving wife, while the steelworker returns with a companion. The unresolved murders continue to haunt the police officer, as the characters find themselves entangled in complex lives filled with temptation and desire. They must ultimately confront their choices and seek redemption.
